AKV EARLY YEARS – AKV PLAY SCHOOL

The pre-primary program at Ekya, for 2 to 4 year olds, has only one approach – “Activity based Learning“. The Kindergarten students use play and a nurturing environment to enhance their natural skills and gifts.

Keeping play and creativity at the center of their lessons, AKV Early Years program includes a wide range of learning areas such as physical education, visual arts, performing arts, sand-play, gardening and puppet shows. These give the young ones extensive opportunities to express themselves, learn through observation and become more self-aware. The Quest program covers varied topics like my city, me and my family, mammals, personal safety and animal movements. Through the quest topics, students take on different roles to be thinkers, inquirers, researchers and risk takers. Each topic offers different knowledge and inquiry skills through the activities and lessons planned during the week. Students are given a gamut of experiences to explore and experience the topic through peer interactions, excursion visits during the learning process and growth.

The pre-primary program builds a resilient foundation for 21st century learners.

PRIMARY SCHOOL

Building on the foundation of inquiry, the primary program at AKV encourages students from grades 1 to 5 to pursue their intellectual interests through thought-provoking classroom explorations.

With the English program, the students are introduced to a variety of fiction, non-fiction and poetry, making them proficient, insightful readers and writers. By incorporating engineering and aspects of the Maker Movement, the Science program trains these young learners to become problem-solvers and change-makers.

The Social Sciences program makes active citizens out of our students who develop an awareness of their surrounding and a sense of responsibility within them. Using software designed specifically for educational purposes, our students learn basic skills of programming and ICT tools, and become trained in digital safety.

The primary program at AKV empowers students to forge new paths as they discover and explore new learning areas.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

From grades 6 to 8, when our students step into adolescence, we begin to inculcate within them a spirit of independence and responsibility.

By writing for different purposes in different contexts, and delving deep into authors’ intentions and themes, our students become skilled in written communication through the middle school English program. While the science program branches out into Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the Social Science program explores the socio-economic nuances of Indian and world history, civic participation and citizenship. The Computer Science program keeps the students updated in planning, designing and creating complex digital solutions while maintaining ethical practices and digital safety.

AKV’s middle schoolers get to choose after-school activities and enroll in clubs like the Editorial Club, Quiz Club, Literary Club, Model United Nations and Theatre Club. Students also attend an outbound learning excursion which combines learning with a sense of adventure.

Individualism, ownership and a sense of responsibility within the middle-schoolers are at the core of AKV’s middle school program.
